Guardian Home Opportunity

Here at Blue Mountain Aussiedoodles, we are so thankful that our dogs are and can be a part of our family. Unfortunately, we are not able to keep all of the dogs we will be using for breeding in our home.

That is where you come in! Occasionally we would like to add some new dogs and puppies to our program as potential future moms and dads. We want to find guardian families who will love these pups just as much as we would in our home. Families who qualify for the guardianship will get a puppy/dog, while we retain breeding rights and use them in our program.

We will cover all costs associated to breeding and care for/own all litters produced by guardian family dogs. In other words, you will get an adorable dog to add to your family at a low cost, and we get to use him/her in our breeding program. Guardian dogs will remain your forever family pet but will come to us every so often to sire/whelp their litters.

Here are a few of the main things that we expect from our guardians:

  • Must be located within a one hour driving distance of our home
  • Must be able to provide a puppy/dog with proper health care, nutrition, and exercise
  • We require that our dogs live inside. We also prefer our guardians to have a fenced in yard.
  • Must keep the dog/puppy groomed and free of fleas & ticks, including regular brushing/bathing
  • Must properly train (both professionally and at home) and socialize the dog/puppy
  • Guardian dogs are to be kept on a healthy high quality diet at all times including feeding our chosen food brand and any required supplements.
  • Guardian families are responsible for all general vet care (aside from any breeding related visits).

Requirements for owning a female dog:

Once your dog is of age, has passed all of her health testing, and is ready to breed (typically on the second heat cycle) we will have your dog over for a few days during the breeding process and later, through the duration of whelping her litter. After your dog has been bred she will return to her guardian family who will care for her during her pregnancy. Then she will come back to us a week before she is due to whelp her litter. Female dogs will spend around 8-10 weeks per year in our care to breed, whelp, raise, and wean their puppies.

Guardians must familiarize themselves with heat cycles and through this be able to detect and keep the female away from any intact male dogs during that time. Females retire at around the age of 4-6 (they usually have around 4 litters), after retirement the female will be spayed and live the rest of her life with her family.

Requirements for owning a male dog:

Once your dog is of age, has passed all of his health testing, and is ready to breed (whenever he has matured) our male dogs will stay with us a few days at a time when needed for breeding, this will most likely be a few times a year. Male dogs must be kept away from all intact female dogs. AT ALL TIMES. Failure to abide by this rule will result in immediate removal of the dog. Males retire at around the age of 5-7, then the male will be neutered and will live the rest of his life with his family.
